Thick limescale
Blind cleaning cotton gloves
Dirty plughole

TOP TEN TIPS

Microwave

cleaning tip

To loosen splatters inside the microwave, fill a cup, bowl or jug with water and if you want an extra nice scent add a squeeze of fresh lemon then microwave on high for about 2 minutes. The steam will loosen any baked on food so you can easily wipe it clean. Repeat as needed but be careful when removing the item as it may be hot.

Dishcloth

sanitising tip

Dishcloths and sponges are incubators for germs and bacteria growth. Regularly put dishcloths in the washing machine to ensure they are clean and sanitary. Microwave damp sponges on high for several minutes to kill bacteria.

Toothbrush

use tips

Keep an old toothbrush to clean hard-to-reach areas around soap holders, plug chain, taps and all those small awkward places to reach.

Successful

chrome

shining tips

A dry, clean microfibre cloth or glass cleaning cloth ( Minky are our faves) will polish chrome to an eye-catching gleam and shine. To remove fingerprints from stainless steel appliances, add a small amount of baby oil to a clean, soft microfiber cloth and wipe for a perfect sheen.

Limescale

removal

For those difficult, stubborn limescale areas such as tap ends slowly scrape a 2 pence coin across it to break down the limescale.

Window

cleaning tip

When cleaning windows, wipe one side of the glass horizontally and the other side vertically. This way, when removing smears and streaks, it will be easy to determine which side they are on. Additionally remember the old saying ‘ less is more’ and use the smallest amount of cleaning chemical to reduce smears occurring.

Pet hair removal

To remove pet hair quickly and effectively use a rubber glove or slightly damp microfiber cloth and brush down.

Dusting tips

and Tricks

Always dust before vacuuming to ensure any dust or dirt that falls to the floor can be vacuumed up. The best cloth to dust with is a damp, clean, microfibre cloth. To dampen the cloth hold it by a corner and lightly mist with water from a spray bottle. Never over wet the cloth. The cloth should be just damp enough to pick up dust without leaving moisture streaks. Always dust from top to bottom

Venetian blind

cleaning

Mist a pair of cotton gloves with water so they are touch damp, then, wearing the gloves, run your fingers between the slats. Fabric softener sheets wrapped around your finger can also be used to wipe the slats individually. Due the their anti- static nature they pick up dust effectively.

Shower curtain

cleaning

After washing your shower curtains or before hanging soak them in salt water. This will help deter mildew growth and prolong the life of the shower curtain.
